Powering the Future: Solar Energy Comes to Mundika B Primary School
September 11, 2025 | Budalangi Sub-County
There is something deeply moving about a school compound filled with children not just attending class, but celebrating. On September 11, 2025, hundreds of pupils at Mundika B Primary School in Budalangi Sub-County gathered to welcome two solar panels donated through the Osiya Foundation, and the smiles in that courtyard said everything.
For schools in rural Budalangi, reliable electricity is not a given. Without it, learning is tied to daylight hours, and teachers work without essential tools. The solar installation at Mundika B changes that a practical, lasting solution that means school life can continue uninterrupted, rain or shine, morning or evening.
What made the handover day special was how fully the community claimed it. Pupils young and old turned out to hold the panels and witness the moment firsthand. For many of them, it was the first time they had seen solar technology up close.
This project is part of the Osiya Foundation's broader commitment to building well-equipped schools in communities that need it most. Budalangi Sub-County has long faced challenges of flooding, limited infrastructure, and gaps in basic services and Mundika B Primary School sits at the heart of the community it serves.
