Solar Power Program - Machakusi Primary School, Amukura West Ward

On July 17, 2025, something worth celebrating happened at Machakusi Primary School in Amukura West Ward, Teso South Sub-County. The Osiya Foundation handed over a solar power system, and the community did not just send a representative to receive it. They all came.
Parents, teachers, and pupils filled the school compound that morning. It was the kind of turnout that tells you everything about how much a community values its school and how long they have been waiting for this kind of support.
That collective presence matters. Solar panels can be installed and forgotten. But when a whole community gathers to receive them, they become something more, a shared investment, a public commitment, and a moment the school will point back to for years.
For Machakusi Primary School, the solar system means reliable power in a setting where that has not always been guaranteed. It means teachers can work without interruption. It means pupils have a fully functioning environment that supports their learning every single day.
Teso South Sub-County is a region with a strong sense of community identity, and Amukura West Ward is no exception. The Osiya Foundation was proud to bring this project here, and even prouder to see how fully the community embraced it.
This is what it looks like when a foundation and a community move in the same direction. Machakusi Primary School is better for it, and so is everyone who calls this ward home.
