The hardship of a Grade Seven learner living with disability at Rwatama Primary School has finally come to an end after the Osiya Foundation team led by Mr. Collins Adera stepped in to transform his story. For years the pupil had been walking nearly three kilometres to and from school ââ¬â an exhausting and painful journey that threatened his education.
The foundation donated a bicycle to ease his mobility, restoring not only his access to school but also his dignity and hope.
The school administration, led by the headteacher Madam Rosemary Oprong Omanyala, The PTA chair David Ijakaa,Deputy BOM chair George Ngeywa, praised the intervention as timely and life-changing.
They described the support as a major relief to a learner who had silently endured immense hardship in pursuit of an education, noting that such acts reaffirm the importance of community partnerships in strengthening learning institutions at the grassroots.
An emotional moment unfolded as the boyââ¬â¢s grandfather Mr Fred Ebale recounted his unsuccessful attempts to seek assistance for his grandson Titus Idewa. He expressed deep gratitude to the Osiya Foundation and appealed for more support toward vulnerable families in rural areas who continue to struggle in silence.
The intervention carries a broader political undertone, underscoring the need for leadership that translates promises into tangible impact for marginalized communities. As national political temperatures gradually rise.
Such grassroots-driven initiatives highlight the gaps that still exist in access to education for persons living with disabilities and children from disadvantaged backgrounds. For the young learner from Rwatama, however, the politics matter less , what matters most is that he will now ride to school with renewed confidence, ready to chase his dreams.
